Foresight Linux 2.0 ships with Gnome 2.22One of the first Linux distributions to ship with the brand new Gnome 2.22 desktop was Foresight Linux 2.0, released late last week. Foresight is an rPath-based distribution that uses the Conary package management system which is intended to make it as simple as possible for use to manage new software installs.

Apart from Gnome 2.22 (which we wrote about last week) Foresight 2.0 also includes a fine selection of end user-focused apps including the uber-cool GnomeDO desktop launcher, Banshee for music and F-Spot for pictures. Package management is through the PackageKit. The team behind Foresight claims that the new tar-based installer in version 2.0 should install in less than 10 minutes, including formatting a 200 GB hard drive. Foresight Linux 2.0 is available for both X86 32 and 64-bit systems.
